I have been painting for as long as I can remember. My preferred medium is watercolour, as I love their bright, vibrant pigments. You may recognise my childhood love of kaleidoscopes in some of my work – I find it gives structure and form to the subjects. I have also used acrylics, as the picture below of Grapes and the Vine show from John’s Gospel, Chapter 15.
When I paint ‘large and live’, during services at my Church, I use poster paints – they are easy mixing, bright and bold – and dry relatively quickly, as most times I only have about 30 minutes to work in ! The lower picture is an example, and is about six feet high by eight feet wide. Using an image that is produced from the theme of the service has a powerful connecting effect for many who do not relate just to the spoken word.
